Kennewick, WA- Ben Franklin Transit hopes to consolidate several bus routes by summertime.
BFT held a public hearing today on the proposed changes, which includes combining three routes in Kennewick into one. BFT says the routes don't have the ridership to merit running buses all day long.
Riders are worried they'll have to walk farther to catch their bus.
Changes would also affect Richland, where several routes would be consolidated on weekends. BFT is also proposing dropping daily service along Columbia Park.
If the transit board approves at its meeting on Thursday, the changes would go into effect in June.
