Teens hospitalized after gang fight in Walla Walla
WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Two teens are in the hospital, one in intensive care after a fight between rival gang members broke out in Walla Walla.
Walla Walla Police say the fight happened around 11 AM Sunday morning at 12th and Birch St. They say up to eight suspects were involved, but by the time officers arrived at the scene most had left.
A 15 year old male was hit on the head with a baseball bat an unknown number of times. He ran from the scene but was eventually taken unconscious, to a local hospital two hours later. He is in intensive care and under heavy sedation.
A second teen received medical treatment Monday morning for injuries from the same fight. His condition is not known at this time.
Police say all suspects involved in the fight were in, or acquaintances of, rival gangs in the Walla Walla area. No arrests have been made yet, but the investigation is ongoing.
Police say they have seen a sharp increase in the amount of gang violence in Walla Walla over the past several months.
