City of Richland flooded with calls about new garbage and recycling program
RICHLAND, Wash;-- The City of Richland wants its residents to know that one call is all it takes to request changes to household garbage collection.
In response to the roll-out of Richland's new garbage program, local residents are flooding phones in the Solid Waste office. People are leaving messages requesting to enroll in the city's new curbside program asking to keep a second gray garbage can or seeking exclusion from the city's yard waste collection fee.
With limited staff to answer the phones, transcribe messages and make return phone calls, Solid Waste Managers are asking residents to leave only one message and to be patient.
