West Richland extends application process for police chief
WEST RICHLAND. Wash;-- The mayor of West Richland is extending the application process to find the next chief of police.
Mayor Donna Noski says they will prolong their search because they've had such a good pool of applicants to pick from.
The deadline for chief of police applications was originally set to be the end of February. As of now the city has 20 applications from people around the Tri-Cities and even several from out of state.
To help with the hiring process the mayor has requested the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police chiefs get involved with recruiting and hiring a new person for the job. Over the next few weeks they will work together and filter through the candidates.
"This is such an important position and we want to make sure we've got the candidate pool to pick the top candidate and the next police chief of West Richland," Mayor Noski said.
The mayor says the new deadline for submission will be March 31. After that, There will be a couple of days set in April to begin police chief testing.
