KENNEWICK, Wash.-- A deafening noise woke up a Kennewick woman last night and she had no idea what it was.
It all started last night near Tenth Ave. and Clodfelter St. in Kennewick when Marlene Marum said she started hearing a loud chopper like noise.
She called us this morning and it turns out it was some wind machines in a nearby apple orchard.
The noise was loud enough, but Marum says the area amplified the sounds.
"I can understand that they have them but is there any other way that it doesn't have to be quite so loud," she says. "This is kind of like a canyon out here and it echoes and anybody that lives up on the hill area gets the whole brunt of it of the noise."
Orchard owners say they've had to use the machines this week because of the unusually low temperatures at night.
