YAKIMA--Firefighters from Grant County Fire District 5 made the long drive to Yakima to train a dozen new recruits.
Yakima's Fire Station 95 offers training drills that can't be done in many other parts of Washington, making it a destination for crews all across the state.
Saturday, recruits from Grant County worked to become nationally certified firefighters.
"They will gain the training, knowledge and skills necessary to perform the daily duties and tasks of being a firefighter," Firefighter Russ Reser, Yakima Fire Department, said.
Grant County brought over twelve recruits, ten of whom are volunteers.
