Cancer benefit for single mom

Posted: Updated:

ZILLAH--People in the Yakima Valley come together for a single mom battling cancer.

Jennifer Hipp found out she had lymphoma two months ago.

The 34-year-old mother of three had to quit her job to get medical treatment.  Now, she says her bills are piling up.

Saturday, friends and family threw Jennifer a party, offering food, an auction and music to raise money.

She is overwhelmed by all the support.

"It's making me really happy," Hipp said.  "I just want to cry, because I know there's so many people that care and it makes me feel good."

Hipp said she will must to undergo chemotherapy once every three weeks until sometime this summer.

The benefit started this afternoon and is going on until 9:00 p.m. Saturday night at Stewart Park in Zillah.
