YAKIMA, Wash. -- The deadline for taxes is a month away. We spoke with a local tax advisor to find out what people should be looking for when preparing their taxes this year.
Seniors should see if they qualify for the Work Pay Credit. There's also an $8,000 credit available for some people.
"[The] first time home buyer credit's probably the big one this year. They have to have their homes purchased by the end of April," said Barbara Strmiska, senior tax advisor, H&R Block.
Strmiska said seeing a professional tax advisor will help you find possible credits. She also said you should file even if you don't have enough money to pay your taxes, the IRS will work out a payment plan.
