YAKIMA, Wash. - The Warriors season opener this past Sunday was an eye opener.
Yakima Valley fell 54 to 25 to Wenatchee Valley. In that game the Warriors failed to score on 10 offensive possessions. Including 6 missed field goals. One of the problems for the slow start, not being able to practice on turf. The playing surface on game day in Alaska this Sunday.
Co-Owner and Coach Michael Mink said, "All we've had to train here in the Yakima Valley has been on the wood floors or grass. There's no facility here that we can utilize you with turf in it."
Wide receiver Gabe Hatchett said, "I think some of the new guys got their feet wet, and now they know what to expect. So will definitely come in there with more confidence, and hopefully bring home a W."
