Yakima soldier dies in Afghanistan

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. - A Joint Base Lewis-McChord soldier from Yakima has died in Afghanistan. The Defense Department says 21-year-old Pfc. James L. Miller died Monday of wounds from a roadside bomb.

Miller was a part of the 5th Stryker brigade and deployed in July of 2009. He live in Yakima and attended the Yakima Community College in 2007.  His mom says he will be missed by many."He was a good father, a good husband, a good son and he died for his country. Fighting for us," said his mom, Kimberly Miller.

James Miller left behind a wife, Katie Miller, from Granger and one year old daughter, Peyton. Miller's mother says they will be holding a burial service in Grange and James will be buried at a cemetery in Zillah. 

They're still working on finalizing the dates.
