$5,000 student scholarship available

Posted: Updated:

Franklin County Coroner Dan Blasdel is offering a $5,000 scholarship for a college student studying forensic science.

Blasdel created a CD called 'Beat The Reaper' which helps kids learn about destructive decisions and what consequences come with those decisions.

It's a virtual world to help people, and it won him a national award last year. Now, his award has turned into a scholarship for one lucky student.

"It's kind of the icing on the cake for me because ,yeah, the award is really nice and it's nice to get the recognition, but to be able to give $5,000 to a student to further their education, or to get into a field in which they want, is just really sweet," Blasdel said.

The scholarship will be given through the Lourdes Foundation. To apply you can contact the Lourdes Marketing department.
