Yakima City Council to present solutions for panhandlers and gangs
YAKIMA,Wash-- The Yakima City Council held its regular media briefing this morning letting us know what to look out for at tomorrow's council meeting.
We can expect to hear the City's answer to some problems Yakima residents have been struggling with for a while.
Earlier today, city manager Dick Zais gave us a preview of some solutions he has to tackle panhandling. Many of the options come from the law enforcement side such as having more officers in areas panhandlers frequent. But the city manager says, it's important to look at the legal side of the issue too.
Panhandling seems important, but council members stress gang issues are still number one. Tomorrow they will set a date for a public hearing on the chronic nuisance property ordinance to fight gang activity.
If you want more details about what steps the city of Yakima may take to address gangs and panhandling, you are welcome to attend the city council business meeting tomorrow at 6pm at City Hall.
