Teen male plans a shooting at East Valley High School
YAKIMA, Wash.- An East Valley student threatening to shoot others is arrested before school Tuesday morning.
Yakima Sheriff Deputies received a call at 11 p.m. Monday night from sources in the United Kingdom. The 17-year-old male was in an online chatroom and was telling others he was planning a shooting at east valley high school on Tuesday.
Deputies tracked down the suspect and arrested him before school.
"So once these words are out there, once threats out there we got to take it seriously and assume something bad will happen if we don't act and that's what we did," said Lt. Brian Winter from YSO.
Deputies say there are often threats but usually they are not so specific. They are continuing to investigate this case and the seriousness of the threat.
The 17-year-old male is now facing felony charges for threats and harassment.
