Pasco, WA- The defense team for a man accused in a 23 year old murder case today asked for another delay in the trial.
The judge said no.
Police arrested Vicente Ruiz in Mexico nearly three years ago. He's accused in the murders of five men in 1987 at a Pasco auto body shop.
One of his three public defenders is currently involved in a murder trial in King County, and the rest of the team wanted to wait until that trial is concluded.
But Judge Cameron Mitchell reminded the two attorneys he was assured by them the King County trial wouldn't conflict with the Ruiz case.
Jury selection is scheduled to begin in two weeks.
