KENNEWICK, Wash-- Kennewick Police are investigating shots fired on North Arthur Street in Kennewick.
Officers say early Monday morning shots were fired near an apartment complex, then at least two men took off running. Shortly after a woman told police she had been sexually assaulted.
What is still not clear is what lead to all of this. Officers say the bullets hit some nearby buildings but property damage is minimal. There was no sign of forced entry to any complex and nothing has been reported stolen. And right now police have no leads on who the two men are. But they do have one person of interest: Rebecca Rodriguez Garcia. She lives nearby and they say may have pulled the trigger and could be the key to identifying any suspects.
"We're not sure why they were fired in the air. But all 3 fled the area. She's the only person we've identified so far. We'd really like to determine the identity of the 2 males," says Sergeant Ken Lattin with the Kennewick Police Department.
Sergeant Lattin says she has known gang ties, but police aren't calling this gang-related. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
