PASCO, Wash-- Jessie Schuh has been in the coffee business for five years but this might be the strangest idea she's ever had.
"Everything on our menu is free the whole month of April," she explains.
It's a tall order for this little shop on Sylvester Street.
"On paper we can't really afford it," she adds. "We're not profitable right now. It's a new business and we expected not to make a profit right away, but we're basically giving it out of our need. We don't have a lot of money, but we want to give."
The free promotion has given a jolt to business; through donations alone, the shop has managed to stay afloat and customers say the give-away is certainly an appeal.
"It's amazing," says one customer. "You just don't see it very often and it's a good thing in this neighborhood and this community. It's a good thing!"
In tough times, it's two bucks a day you can pocket. Instead of paying the shop, the shop is paying it forward.
"We're just going to give them out and not expect anything in return," Schuh adds. "But people have been definitely very generous."
