KENNEWICK, Wash. - The local census office still needs people to help conduct the 2010 count. The Central Washington office is trying to hire anywhere from 200 to 400 people but it all depends on how many people actually turn in their census forms.
As of now, Benton and Franklin County are leading the state but almost 40% of the people are still unaccounted for. For this reason, the Census Bureau is hiring people to go door to door. Census Manager, Noemi Ortega wants people to know that the jobs pay well and offer flexible hours.
"We are getting ready to hire people who will be doing the knocking on the doors and this is across the nation not just here, across the nation. So anyone that listens to us and is still interested we are still taking applications," said Ortega.
Ortega says the jobs are temporary and the majority are part time. She says if you are interested in being a Census worker call the local office at 509-737-6100.
