Dry season threat for wild fires

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Washington State Department of Natural Resources released a report alerting Washingtonians that wildfire season is here.

The report says there have already been 15 wild fires this year and now they are encouraging people to take action to protect their homes and property. They say there are some steps homeowners can take to lessen the threat. Some of those include watering and trimming plants close to your home, planting trees about 100 feet away from your home and picking up any fallen tree branches.

Last year alone there were over a thousand wildfires. Those fires burned more than 17-thousand acres.
