YAKIMA--Autism is a challenging disorder found in one of every 110 American youth and one of every 70 boys. Coping with autism often requires community support.
Saturday, dozens of people came to Children's Village in Yakima for their first annual Autism Awareness Fair.
The fair aimed to bring parents of autistic children together to support each other, and share ideas on how to best care for their kids.
"Parents can be so much more aware of what they should be looking for and how we can be focusing on the early intervention," Erin Lynch said. Lynch coordinated organization of the fair. She has two autistic children.
Children's Village expansion will offer more services for autistic children; it should be finished in the next few months.
