YAKIMA--Face to face with an armed gunman.  A barista at a Yakima Espresso stand fights off a would-be robber.

Annie Pickerington runs the Mudd Puddle Espresso stand on the corner of 15th Avenue and Summitview Avenue.

Around 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Pickerington said a man walked up and ordered a mocha.

She made the drink and was about to give the man his change, when he jumped through the window.

Pickerington saw the suspect had a gun.  She told KNDO reporter Nick Paradise she had only one thought in mind:  get out of the building.

"I grabbed the deadbolt, he threw me down on the ground and the shots went off," Pickerington said.  "I ended up being able to get up again, grabbed the deadbolt and ran out the door."

Fortunately pickerington was not hit and has only minor injuries.

The suspect ran off.  Police say he's a thin black male with wire-rimmed glasses.

Police say he didn't end up taking any money from the stand.

They found several shell casings and say they have good leads, but haven't made any arrests yet.
