SWAT sniper training interrupted by outside gunfire
YAKIMA--A SWAT training session in Yakima was interrupted by outside gunfire.
SWAT officers from all over Washington are in Yakima this week for sniper training. YPD Sgt. Mike Henne said the officers were taking a break in the 400 block of South Fourth Street around 4:30 p.m. Sunday when they heard shots.
One officer was nearly hit. The SWAT team surrounded a house in the 300 block of South Third Street, but the suspects were not there.
Henne said the suspects are two Hispanic teenagers wearing red. Witnesses told police the suspects were targeting a juvenile Hispanic male, not the officers.
No one was injured, and no arrests have been made.
