Clothesline project speaks out against sexual violence

Posted: Updated:

Yakima, WASH--18% percent of women will be raped in their lifetime according to the US Department of Justice.

April is Sexual Violence Awareness Month and a local group is putting women's stories on display.  Comprehensive Mental Health is taking part in the Clothesline Project. This is a national movement that uses t-shirts to raise awareness of violence against women.

Starting today, people can come in and make new shirts to add.  You don't have to be a female victim of violence to decorate a shirt.  Many people make a shirt in honor of someone else.  So from now until Friday from 3pm to 7pm you can come and speak out against violence directed at women.
