2 guilty verdicts in Tonasket murder trial

OKANOGAN, Wash. - Two Spokane people have been convicted of murder charges in the stabbing death of a pregnant woman from Benton City.

Sheriff Frank Rogers says the jury returned verdicts at 11 p.m. Thursday in Okanogan County Superior Court.

30 year old Tansy Fae-Arwen Mathis was found guilty of aggravated murder, manslaughter of the unborn child, kidnapping and tampering with evidence. She will be sentenced to life in prison without parole.

34 year-old David Eugene Richards of Spokane was found guilty of second-degree murder and manslaughter.

25 year old Michelle L. Kitterman grew up in Benton City. She was killed with an ice pick in Tonasket in March of 2009. 

A third suspect pleaded guilty and a fourth is scheduled for trial in July.
