Chiawana student selected to be on WA State Board of Education
PASCO, Wash.-- A student from Chiawana High School in Pasco has been selected as a representative to the Washington State Board of Education.
Jared Costanzo, a sophomore, is one of only two high schoolers in the state to represent students on the board; one is from western Washington, Constanzo is the eastern Washington representative.
Costanzo is currently the public relations officer within Chiawana's ASB, and has represented students at other state conferences, such as the Washington State School Director's Association conference in Seattle.
He won't get to vote on the board of education, but is excited to have a voice. He says, "The education and achievement gap is one issue I want to raise awareness about, student voice overall... and school safety."
Costanzo is also on the Chiawana's cross country and soccer teams. His two year term with the Board of Education starts next month.
