Improvements made at Franklin Pool to bring in more users
YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima Parks and Recreation is putting the finishing touches on new equipment at Franklin pool.
In an effort to get more people to use Yakima's only remaining outdoor public pool, crews have expanded the grass area around the pool. They've also added three new shade umbrellas and installed new deck lights so they can extend pool hours.
"For outdoor ya it's the only place you can go to and it's the city saying they don't want to give up. They aren't giving up on what we want to offer for the public in Yakima," said Jason Zeller, Yakima Parks and Recreation.
The new expanded grass area increases capacity at the pool from 300 to 400 people. Franklin Pool is scheduled to open on June 11th.
