RICHLAND, Wash. -- Richland students bury a piece of history to celebrate the founding of the town 100 years ago.
The town was formally created on April 28th, 1910; 50 years before the city was founded after work at the Hanford site.
Wednesday, students in Richland dedicated a time capsule.
They were joined by Mayor John Fox and City Council Members.
Students want the capsule re-opened 50 years from now.
Cade Maldonado, a high school student, "This is an amazing experience this doesn't come around a lot. I know I'm not going to be here in another hundred years so it's just something that when I signed up for student government day I had no idea."
The time capsule has items including a book on the early history of Richland.
