Census workers go door-to-door

Posted: Updated:

Census workers are now walking the streets and knocking on doors all around the Tri-Cities beginning today.

Over the past month or so workers have knocked on doors where return rates for the 2010 census forms have traditionally been low, but today the Census is kicking off a large-scale effort to get every person in the Tri-Cities counted by going door to door.

Census leaders say 70 percent of forms have been returned by mail but this big effort is expected to count the rest.

Census leaders anticipate they will have the no response follow up operation completed by July.
