YAKIMA--An encounter between an armed man and Yakima police ends with the man being shot twice.
About about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Yakima Police were investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred earlier that day when they came across the 25-year-old man in the 800 block of South Eighth Street.
In a press release, Sgt. Tony Bennett said the man is a known gang member and that he was armed. Bennett did not disclose why the man was shot, just that the encounter led to him being shot twice in the hip/leg area.
His wounds are not considered life-threatening. The suspect will be charged for Rendering Criminal Assistance, according to Bennett.
