Yakima residents speak out against downtown parking

YAKIMA, Wash.- Yakima residents living in downtown apartments are speaking out against timed parking.

John Samson is one of many tenants in an apartment on Chestnut Avenue and Fourth Street. He uses an oxygen tank every time he is outside.

Ever since the city changed the parking on Fourth Street to just one hour, Samson has to constantly move his car.

Samson says life has become more challenging.

"I have to park two blocks away, I still have to take a break go a block, then another block and being on oxygen makes it rough," said Samson.

Samson and other tenants who live in the chestnut manor say they will continue to ask city council to review the parking.

Tenants say they want to be able to have parking passes instead of moving their cars every hour.
