Town hall meetings scheduled for SaturdayPosted: Updated:
The special legislative session in Olympia dominated headlines for a month. Now our local lawmakers are coming to you to find out what you thought of their work of bridging a nearly $3 billion budget deficit.
You're invited to open town hall meetings this Saturday. There will be five in the area.
Prosser from 8 AM - 9:30 AM at the City Council Chambers (601 7th St.)
Benton City from 10:30 AM - Noon at the Kiona-Benton High School Performing Arts Center
West Richland from 1 PM - 2:30 PM at Benton REA Meeting Room (6095 Van Giesen St.)
Richland from 3:30 PM - 5 PM at City Council Chambers (505 Swift Blvd.)
Kennewick from 6 PM - 7 PM City Council Chambers (210 W. 6th Ave.)
All three local legislators, Senator Jerome Delvin and representatives Larry Haler and Brad Klippert all plan to be there.
One local representative says he expects a fair share of frustration at these meetings; especially over tax hikes and paying for a special session, both of which our local lawmakers were against.
That is why they want to meet with you. They want to highlight their alternatives, give you a behind the scenes report and give you a chance to speak up.
Rep. Brad Klippert with the 8th district said, "I certainly expect people are going to express frustration. Their emotions will come out. But I actually am looking forward to that."
Rep. Klippert also said he wants to be as transparent as possible and if he is going to fight for what you want, you have to speak your mind.
