Leaving on a Jet Plane: Ams Share Plane With Hitmen Back to Calgary

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash. -- The Tri-City Americans got quite a surprise Thursday on their flight out of Pasco. Sitting just down the aisle, their toughest competition, the Calgary Hitmen!

The Ams beat the Hitmen Wednesday night and Thursday morning, both teams left for Calgary for Friday's game.

The teams have been fighting it out on the ice in the WHL finals.

Could they keep it together at 30-thousand feet?

"That's odd, never done that before." said Head Coach Jim Hiller. "Usually, we stay away from the enemy, but today we're riding together. I'm sure they'll have us segregated front and back. But again, I think both teams have a lot of respect for each other so beyond the ice, there's no animosity."

"That's a little awkward," said Captain Jarrett Toll. "I didn't think we'd be doing that but I'm sure we'll be separated. I don't think there will be any problems"
