Calgary, AB (By Tri-City Americans) -- "Experience: that most brutal of teachers. But you learn, my God do you learn." -- C.S. Lewis

In an ironic twist of fate, the Tri-City Americans arguably put forth their best all around performance in Game 5 of the Western Hockey League Finals. However, by the end of the night, it was the Calgary Hitmen who went on to be crowned Champions.

Backed by a three-goal second period and 32 saves from goaltender Martin Jones, the Calgary Hitmen (16-6-1, 32 pts) outlasted the pesky Tri-City Americans (13-7-2, 26 pts) 4-1 to claim their second-ever Ed Chynoweth Cup and advance to play in next week's MasterCard Memorial Cup in Brandon, Manitoba. Meanwhile, the loss ends yet another banner year for the Americans, who managed to pick-up their third straight U.S. Division crown and first-ever Western Conference Championship along the way.
