Second exam concludes Morales competent

Posted: Updated:

Pasco, WA- A second mental exam has concluded a man charged with murder is competent to stand trial.

Ramon Garcia Morales and his brother have been in Franklin County jail for more than a year and half while prosecutors and defense attorneys argue about the men's mental state.

The defense team claims both men suffer from mental illnesses.

The brothers are accused of killing a man and critically wounding his wife in their Pasco home.

The presiding judge scheduled a competency hearing next month, when doctors and other witnesses may testify.
