PASCO, Wash. -- A 22 year old Pasco murder suspect makes his first court appearance. Kurtis Chapman faces 2nd degree murder charges for the death of 19 year old Shenay Greenough.
Thursday, Chapman stood in front of a judge for about five minutes. His arraignment was set for this coming Tuesday.
Chapman is accused of strangling his ex-girlfriend, Shenay Greenough, over the weekend, then leaving her body under his father's home.
Thursday in court, a very emotional day for friends and family of Greenough. After the hearing Shenay's mother, Christina Sullivan, opened up.
"She was my whole life. I knew she was going to be my only child. I was too old to have another one. She was everything to me, she was my life. And that's why I'm going to miss her so much, and I already do. I keep waiting for her to walk in the door, and she doesn't. For some reason I can't stop wanting her to walk in the door," said Sullivan, between tears.
Sullivan says it is a tragic loss, made only harder because her daughter was said to be pregnant with a second child.
Shenay's first child, Aidan, is now with his father. Sullivan says she deeply wanted her two grandkids to be a big part of her life.
A funeral has been set for this coming Tuesday at 11 AM at South Hills Church in Kennewick.
