KENNEWICK, Wash-- The new $1.1 million Clover Island project is just about complete. The Port of Kennewick helped put up a lighthouse, an archway and they also paved over a new pathway.
There's a grand revealing next Thursday, the 20th, from 3:30 to 6 so you can see just how much work has been done. And if you're wondering why a lighthouse and an archway? Port leaders tell us it's designed to help spur economic development.
"We're making investments that will eventually leverage additional private development here on the island that will bring additional retail, commercial and other opportunities for the citizens to come down and enjoy their water front," explains Tana Inglima with the Port of Kennewick.
And just as this project comes to an end another one is right around the corner. They're going to revitalize the shoreline. If you want to go to the opening party next Thursday you have to RSVP to the Port. You can call them at (509)-586-1186 ext. 2.
