OUTLOOK--A tragic accident. That's what state troopers are calling the death of a two-year-old girl after being hit by a car.
State troopers say the two-year-old's mother was checking her mail on the opposite side of Outlook Road at 3:30 p.m. Thursday when the girl ran out into the street and was struck by a car.
She died at the scene.
Sgt. Tom Foster of the Washington State Patrol told KNDO the driver was following the 50-mile per hour speed limit in the 1900 block of Outlook Road.
Foster said the accident is a tragedy.
"Several lives were just devastated today," Foster said. "[A] little girl died. Her family's never going to be the same. The driver that was driving the car, she's never going to be the same either. She's going to remember this for the rest of her life."
Troopers are still investigating, but tell us the female driver passed several sobriety tests.
