CBC Claims Back to Back Eastern Region Titles

Posted: Updated:

Spokane, WA--

No question, Columbia Basin Community College owns the Eastern Region for the second year in a row.  Giving the Hawks an automatic bid into the NWAACC tournament in Longview, WA.

Here's how it all came to fruition on Saturday.  The Hawks took on Spokane in a double header.  In game one CBC won 5-2, to secure the Eastern Region title.  In that game starting shortstop Nathan Williams went 3-4 with 2 RBIs.  Catcher/DH Max Garrett went 2 for 4 with a double and RBI.  Meanwhile, former Kamiakin Brave Kody Young dominated the hill pitching 6 innings, while striking out five along the way.

Hawks went onto lose game two 11-2 to Spokane.  The team played its bench in that game.

This upcoming Friday CBC will play host to the Eastern Region Tournament.  The winner of this tournament will be a number one seed from the East Region in the NWAACC tournament.  CBC will play Walla Walla Community College this Friday at home.

The other two teams that will participate in this year's tournament will be Yakima Valley Community College, and Treasure Valley Community College.  Only two teams from this tournament will receive a berth into the NWAACC.  With CBC already clinching one of those spots that means only one of the three remaining schools previously listed has a chance to claim the other one from the Eastern Region.
