First National Search and Rescue Week

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash. -- This week is the first National Search and Rescue Week. The resolution, introduced by Senator Maria Cantwell, honors the men and women who devote their time to Search and Rescue.

On average, Yakima County Search and Rescue goes on 43 missions a year. Over 100 people volunteer and so far they've been on five missions this year, each time the missing person was found safe.
