At the beginning of this season Richland baseball expected to compete. Just not for a state title. Losing key members of last years state championship team will put you in that mindset.
Now look Richland is cruising through state. Winning its first two games by seven runs each in route to another semi-final berth at Safeco Field on Friday night against Shorewood.
This new found belief wasn't exactly there day one.
Senior Infielder and Pitcher Mike Dunford said, "Not at the beginning to be honest. Past ten games we've really come together. Our hitting has been doing good... Getting the job done. We're starting to peak at the right time."
Senior Outfield Chris Cecil said, "Just dominating those teams... Winning by seven runs each. It's just a huge confidence boost, and I think we are going to use that in our games up at state."
