WASHINGTON-- Memorial Day Weekend is one of the busiest travel weekends of the year. The best tip is for you to be patient. Department of Transportation leaders say Friday and Monday will be the busiest travel days. And with a better economy, more drivers are likely to be on the road.
Transportation leaders opened up Chinook Pass Friday, which will be useful to get to the Puget Sound area. Problem is, bad weather has already hit Chinook. But Snoqualmie Pass is still the most traveled road and it's already starting to back up.
"Drivers can expect heavy eastbound traffic coming over I-90 Snoqualmie Pass today, especially between now and 10 p.m. tonight," explains Mike Westbay with the Department of Transportation. "And then very, very heavy traffic westbound going over I-90 Snoqualmie Pass on Monday evening."
Factor in some rain like we've been seeing and this could be an even slower weekend commute than expected.
