Pendleton School District will close schools earlier than planned this year
Pendleton, OR - Students in the Pendleton School District will be done with classes earlier than planned this year. Because Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski has ordered an immediate 9% across-the-board reduction for all state agencies for the second year of the current 2009-2011 biennium, the Pendleton School District expects to lose another $1.2 million for the 2010-2011 school year. District leaders say because of these last minute drastic budget cuts by the state, they've decided to close their doors early this year. Afternoon Kindergarten will end Thursday, June 3, 2010 and Friday, June 4, 2010 will be the last day of school for all other students in the Pendleton School District. Friday will be a 2-hour early release.
