YPD's services department announces furlough closure dates
YAKIMA, Wash. -- Even the Yakima Police Department is preparing for city furloughs.
The services division will close one Friday a month beginning in June. This includes people answering phones at the front desk and doing record checks. Phones will be re-routed for non-emergency phone calls.
The city furloughs were adopted by council as a way to make up for the budget shortfall.
The closure dates are: June 18th, July 16th, August 20th, September 17th, October 15th, November 26th and December 24th.
