According to new studies released in Washington State, small businesses represent about 95 percent of all businesses in Washington.
Therefore, with a struggling economy, Congressman Doc Hastings says it's one of his top priorities to help them get back on the fast track.
Hastings met with local business leaders during a series of roundtable discussions today to find out what owners are worried about most. Hastings says the health care bill came up often during the discussions along with a necessity to create news job opportunities.
"Small businesses are the engine of our economy," he said. "They are the ones that are the job creators, so I want to hear first hand from my constituents what is happening in this respect."
Hastings is also encouraging people to visit a new website called AmericaSpeakingOut.com
He says the idea of the site is for Americans to interact with republicans and the House of Representatives about issues going on today in our country.
