YAKIMA--Friends and family honor the memory of an Eisenhower High School student who lost her battle with cancer in 2008.
About 100 people took to the field outside the Yakima Athletic Club Saturday for the fourth annual Shayla Holwegner Classic.
Registration fees go to places like Children's Hospital, Ronald McDonald House and the Northwest Sarcoma Foundation.
Shayla's dad told KNDO the classic continues his daughter's legacy.
"That people could learn from [Shayla's] experience and look for the best and know that there's always hope," Michael Holwegner said.
So far, this year's classic has raised about $1,100.
You can still get some volleyball in if you show up at the athletic club around 7:30 a.m. Sunday. The registration fee is $25 for a coed team.
