Scientists from all over the world come to PNNL today
Some of the world's best engineers and scientists came together at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland to talk about issues surrounding nuclear power plants.
The group worked on finding better ways that US and international power stations can be safely certified for another 20 or 40 years. Speakers say they will work to figure out what's next for nuclear power.
"This meeting is very important because we are writing one of the international reports on how to monitor the health of an existing nuclear power plant so we don't have a runaway problem like in the Gulf of Mexico," Chairman of International Atomic Agency said.
Scientists also say they will work to develop advanced methods for online monitoring of nuclear plant systems.
