YAKIMA--One man is dead and another in jail after a head-on collision in Yakima Saturday morning.
Police are calling the incident vehicular homicide. Officers say 20-year-old Jonathan Pedroza-Lewis was heading south on 16th Avenue shortly after 5:00 a.m. when he turned onto Bell Avenue in front of an oncoming car.
23-year-old Sean Nagy couldn't avoid the car and slammed into Pedroza-Lewis' vehicle head-on at the corner of Bell and 16th. One neighbor describes the frightening scene.
"Oh, the damage to the front of the car on the driver's side, it looked like it had been run over by a train," Gloria Lopez said.
Both drivers were taken to Yakima Regional, but Nagy died shortly afterwards.
Pedroza-Lewis was treated for a head injury and is now being held by police for investigation.
Yakima police say both men were wearing their seat belts.
