Yakima woman one of 18 candidates for MTV Twitter Jockey
YAKIMA, Wash. – Millions of people across the country use Twitter every day but one woman in Yakima has caught the eye of MTV and may make her their first ever Twitter Jockey.
Elvira Moreno, 21, is one of 18 candidates selected to become the network's inaugural TJ based on their use of the social media site, including their tweets and how they interact with other users.
The person selected will be based out of New York for a year and get a $100,000 salary. "From Yakima to being basically unemployed, going to college to going to MTV basically overnight, it would be a dream come true," said Moreno.
The next step in the search will begin in July where Moreno will need to get more followers on Twitter and get supporters to vote for her online.
MTV contacted the potential TJ on Facebook and caught Moreno off guard. She wasn't sure what to make of it at first but now is excited at the chance to represent her hometown on a national stage.
