KENNEWICK, Wash-- If ever there was a sign technology continues to grow, this might just be it. KNDU Skyped with Staff Sergeant Scott O'Reilly, who is on his second tour in Iraq. His focus right now is helping to get Iraq ready for the potential departure of US forces in the next year-plus.
"What we're doing now is we're assisting them in their patrols and setting up check points and helping them with what they need to do to secure their country," he tells us from around the world.
The focus of the military has begun to shift towards Afghanistan, where Scott's younger brother is deployed, and the potential next spot he heads.
"My mom and my wife probably don't want to hear it, but I want to go to Afghanistan," he tells us.
It's a reality Scott's mother has grown to live with. She joined us for our sky interview, not having seen her son since last year.
"People wonder how I sleep at night and I don't know," Barbara O'Reilly explains. "But I can tell you there is a peace about it."
