KID fixing leaks; over 5,000 homes to be affected

KENENWICK, Wash. -- Over 5,000 homes in Kennewick will be without irrigation water again as the Kennewick Irrigation District works to repair two new leaks in the Edison Street Line.

Irrigation leaders say homeowners will experience service interruption until Wednesday morning. The areas that will be affected are from 10th Avenue, down Edison Street and over to Olympia Street. Private line areas affected are from 10th Avenue to Canal and from Kellogg Street to Olympia Street.

This is the second time in two weeks that customers are experiencing service interruption. KID says they completely replaced two valves on the Edison Line last week. Now service is off again because of the new leaks.

Water was turned off Monday at noon after two new leaks were found. Concrete columns will be poured Tuesday morning to repair fractures. The water is scheduled to be turned on Wednesday.
