YAKIMA, Wash.- Firefighters rescued a man who fell 40 feet into a water tower in Terrace Heights. The worker was inspecting the inside of this tower when he slipped and fell down into a water tank.
Firefighters had to tie him to a gurney and use a pulley system to get him out of the tower.
Yakima and East Valley crews were called to the rescue and say the man is lucky to be alive.
"A lot of unstable structure in there, we had some debris fall while we were working inside, there was a lot of animal carcasses and feces," said Sahl Martin from the rescue team.
"Don't see it very often, the teach rescue team has been out to about three or four calls like this," said Yakima Battalion Chief Abel Castilleja.
The man was taken to Regional Hospital.
EMS crews say he was conscious and talking at the time, but say he may have multiple broken bones.
